Have life, and have it abundantly, John 10:10

“I think for the longest time in American churches we have struggled with reaching today’s children and their parents for Christ.

“We have found that with an ever-increasing blitz of HDTV, I-Pads, I-Pods, along with all the digital media in our family’s lives that today’s churches are becoming irrelevant to this New Digital Family.

“It is my belief that the world needs Jesus Christ now more than ever as we approach an ever-changing future, and I believe that the only way to change the future is to change our future generation,” sai  Senior Pastor, Mark McGinnis of Abundant Life Baptist Church, Troy.

Pictured is the view as you walk into the new Kidz Zone. The theme is an animated version of downtown Troy.

With these wise words, Abundant Life Baptist Church has decided to think outside the box and bring something new to the ministry, something that will bring in those who might need guidance.

“With this said we are taking a different approach to Children’s Ministry. We are going to meet the people right where they are in the digital/visual world they live in. Gone are the days of hopscotch and jacks, we are competing for children’s attention on a much larger scale than ever before and no time could be more crucial than now to the future of our families,” explained McGinnis.

What does this approach entail? With the help of God, giving and loving church members and faith, this new way to introduce the word of God will be fun and light hearted. There have been many changes to the newest wing of the church and the white walls are no longer what you would view in a typical church. Abundant Life Baptist Church hired a World Class Theme company to come in to their newest wing and completely theme it out in a kid friendly way!

“We call it ‘Kidz Zone,’ and we have dedicated half of our church building to just that – ‘KIDZ!’ , said the pastor. “We feel that parents need to know that their kids matter here and that they are not alone in their endeavors. We understand that every parent wants their children to be equipped with everything they can provide for them for the rest of their lives and we recognize that parents desire their children to not only know God, but also have a working relationship with him and that is where the churches of Troy come in!

“We here at Abundant Life Baptist Church are just simply doing our part in this city wide vision that I’m sure every Christian in our community echos.” said McGinnis

Along with the theme of an “Animated Downtown Troy,” within each classroom lies an even greater atmosphere in which the children’s imaginations can take flight while learning about Jesus and his word. There will be five themed rooms for the kids to enjoy and a state-of-the-art nursery equipped with one way glass, pagers and much more. There will be a Noah’s Ark themed room where children will learn through performing arts, puppet shows and plays; a game show room will test all the knowledge of the students as they buzz in with their answers to the trivia questions; the movie theater room will showcase stadium seating and a big projection screen; a science lab will help the kids learn through science experiments related to the Bible; and the high school café will be a place to play games, listen to music, and use media to expand their knowledge in a “hip” and relaxing setting.

To kick off the new look, on October 31 Abundant Life Baptist Church will have their annual “Trunk or Treat,” anyone that would like to take a tour of their facilities and see what God is doing is more than welcome to join in on the fun. Bring the children and their costumes out for a hay ride and bonfire along with great music and all the candy you need. (Don’t forget to check out the “Old Haunted Bus” Oct. 31 starting at dusk!)

Then plan to return at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, October 4 for the Grand Opening of the “Kidz Zone,” where you will visit the Movie Theater, The Game Show Room, The Wacky Science Lab, or “The Noah’s Ark Experience” while learning and growing and making new friends at Abundant Life Baptist Church.

Abundant Life Baptist Church continues to reach out to the community and grow as a family. They have a Digg It sports league for their new sand volleyball. They also installed the basketball hoops and plan to, in the future, make a softball field on the side of the Kidz Zone. Along with the many athletic changes and the new Kidz Zone, the church sanctuary has been revamped. You have to see it all to believe it.

To visit Abundant Life Baptist Church join them for their Sunday worship beginning at 10:30 a.m. at 21 S Ridge Road Troy, Mo., 63379, visit for more services and information, or call 636-528-3651.
