The Lincoln County Quilt Registration will take place Saturday Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mt. Zion ARP Church on Hwy V in the Okete community. The project’s purpose is to document quilts owned by or made by a Lincoln County resident.

The quilts may be of any age, from the earliest days of Lincoln County up to the present time.  There is a registration fee of $5 per quilt to help cover the costs of the registration project which is also underwritten by the Missouri State Quilters Guild.  There is a limit of two quilts per person.

Along with the quilt, owners are asked to bring information about the quilt, its creators especially names, dates and places related to the quilt.  The information will be taken along with size and stitching measurements, block and quilting patterns and fabrics, thread and batting used.

In late October, each quilt’s owner will receive the quilt’s picture, all the quilt’s written information and a cloth label which can be sewn to the quilt’s back.  The label has the quilt’s registration number which will relate to the total list of quilts of Lincoln County registered since 2016. This registration begins with #126. These picture and information listings will be added to those already in the Old Jail Library of the Historical Society.

There will not be any appraisals nor selling quilts during the registration project.

For any additional questions please call 636-528-7562. Bring your family quilt treasure and document it as part of Lincoln County’s continuing history.
