Mrs. Juanita “Dar” Darlene Jones-Simmons, 58, of Troy, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, surrounded by her family at her bedside.

She was born on Oct. 17, 1954, in Bethune, S.C. to Ernest and Juanita (Bryson) Jones.

Dar, as she was lovingly called by family and friends, was raised in South Carolina until the family moved to Missouri. She was fortunate to have 12 siblings. Dar was blessed with two daughters: Michelle and Melissa who meant everything to her. She was an energetic employee for the Wal Mart Store here in Troy for over 25 years. Dar had worked as a department head and appreciated the other employees and the customers. Dar married her soulmate, Adam Simmons, on Oct. 1, 2005, at Lake Saint Louis. They were devoted to each other. Daffodils, Koala bears, and the Carolina Panthers football team were some of her favorite things in life. She always appreciated going to the beach with her family and friends. Dar was dearly loved by her family and friends.

Surviving are her beloved and devoted husband, Adam Simmons, of Troy; her daughters: Michelle Momphard, of Silex, Melissa Crabtree, of Lake Saint Louis; her mother, Juanita (Jones) Chandler and her stepdad, James “Buck” Chandler; her adoring grandchildren: Melvinie Momphard and Caiden Crabtree. She is further survived by her brothers: Earl and wife, Debbie Ann Jones, of Sumter, S.C., Randy Jones and friend John Blount of Atlanta, GA, Ricky Jones, of Lexington, S.C., Chris Jones, of Lexington, S.C., Kent Gasperson, of Red Bank, S.C.; her sisters: Cathy Bernard, of Lexington, S.C., Jan and husband, Bob Jarrell, of Leesville, S.C., Debbie and husband, Ed Gilday of Kennesaw, GA, Jean Bockelman, of Grant, Fla., Lonita Gasperson, of Ballentine, S.C.; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center in Troy. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Sanders, pastor of Harvester Christian Church in Troy. Interment will follow in the Troy City Cemetery, Troy.

Funeral services for Velma Marshall Sanders, 95, of Elsberry, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Elsberry.  Rev. John Zellmer, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery.

Mrs. Sanders, 95, passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters.

Born March 23, 1917, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of Alton P. and Gertie Parks Davis.  She graduated from high school in Paynesville and attended Kirksville State Teachers College for one year.  She worked as an elementary school teacher at Star Hope, Hayes and White Swan Schools where she also attended as a child.  She was united in marriage on Nov. 30, 1938 in Elsberry to Harry Robert Sanders, Jr.  This union was blessed with one daughter, Bobette.

Mrs. Sanders was a housewife.  She was a 60 year member of P.E.O – Chapter AI, a 65 year member of Troy Chapter of the DAR, various bridge clubs around Elsberry and The Garden Club.  She was a member and Deacon Emeritus at the First Christian Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Bobette Shipman and her husband, Joe, of Elsberry; one nephew, Bob Davis and his wife, Donna, of Elsberry; and one niece, Betty Cohoon and her husband, Charles, also of Elsberry.  She also leaves other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.

Gary Lewis Holmes of Richardson, Texas, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at the age of 59.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Corinth Cemetery in Foley.
