Clopton PTO’s second meeting of the year generated a large turnout from students and parents as the fourth and fifth grade classes held presentations. They each presented a skit related to Thanksgiving.
In old business, results from the chili supper were discussed. There was a large turnout for the event, but profits were down as a result of higher food prices. Committee members and parents discussed raising prices for next year’s event to counterbalance higher food costs. The committee will also look into getting donations for the food from area businesses and/or patrons.
Room parents have been assigned for the elementary classrooms. Upcoming parties include Christmas (Dec. 21) and Valentine’s (Feb. 14, 2018).
In new business, the Snowball Express/Holiday Gift Shop will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 5 and 6. This is a non-profit event in which students can buy gifts for loved ones for the holidays.
A spring fundraiser was also discussed. In March, a candy bar fundraiser will be held with a 50/50 profit for PTO.
A monetary donation from the PTO will be given to elementary teachers for classroom supplies early in January. PTO also voted to fund up to $500 for a classroom wish. Teachers will be asked to submit wishes and one will be chosen randomly.
Watch for a Clopton PTO Facebook Page coming soon. This will be an informational page only to be managed by the PTO committee.
The next PTO meeting will be held Feb. 8, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. with Second and Third Grades presenting.
