At the Salvation Army’s advanced training session located at Camp Mihaska near Bourbon, held on April 19 and 20, the Midland District Division Headquarters recognized the Lincoln County Service Extension Unit (SEU) with two awards. The first award was for outstanding achievement during the local winter Red Kettle bell-ringing campaign, in which volunteers within Lincoln County raised $63,284. Lincoln County’s SEU was one of very few of the 114 SEU’s in the Midland District, which raised more money this last winter than the preceding year, and is an indication of the fantastic support for the Salvation Army by local residents.
The second award, the prestigious “Army of Stars” award was in recognition of the achievements of the local Advisory Committee in training, compassionate and disaster service and in advance planning for future disasters.
Persons interested in serving during disasters should contact Russ Weltmer at 636-528-7901, or Phyllis Cross at 636-462-2458 to learn the details on how to participate with the local Salvation Army SEU.
