The literary world has clearly been waiting for Stephanie Paasch to step onto the scene. In the past six months, she has written more than two-dozen children’s books, started her own publishing house, and taken her first book to press.

The Troy resident and Clopton native is the author of the soon to be released children’s book: “Sparklepants: Moving Day,” in which a young girl named Ellie Marie and her lovable dog Sparklepants move out of the only home they’ve ever known and learn that “anyplace can feel like home if you are surrounded with those people who love you.”

Paasch says that while she has always loved reading and writing, encouragement from her friends, family, and kids motivated for her to pen her stories and take the next steps toward publication.

“I’ve told these stories to my three kids for years,” Paasch commented to the Journal. “They have always loved them, and when I received praise from a few others that I respected who had read my work, I finally felt the push to move forward and try to publish the book.”

With all of her recent success, Paasch is extremely grateful for the opportunities she’s been given.

“It feels amazing,” she continued. “Everything has really taken off, and it doesn’t feel real sometimes. I hope to inspire others who read my books to happiness, because who couldn’t feel joy when reading about a dog named Sparklepants?”

Paasch plans to hold several local book signing and reading events in the area following the release of her first book on July 1. She will be at the Roasted Bean coffee shop in Troy on August 1 from 4-6p.m. to do a reading and signing of her book. She encourages Girl Scout troops, 4H clubs, and other groups to attend and look into receiving a literature badge for their attendance.

Within the next year, she plans to release several other books in her “The Adventures of Sparklepants” series, continue to work on her publishing house, and even go on a national book tour to celebrate her characters and bring a love of reading to kids all over the country.
