Merrell Graves, 81, of Foley, passed away on March 25, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles.
Merrell was born on Feb. 18,1932 in Lincoln County, to Raymond and Myrtle (Montgomery)Graves. He attended the local schools, along with his brother, Arlon. Merrell enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a mechanic/welder on submarines. He met and later married Dean Snider on Nov. 24, 1956, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley.To this union were born three daughters: Karen, Terry and Patty.
Merrell worked as a carpenter for Southern Cross Construction and Bud Bass Construction. Merrell, Dean and Arlon and Kattie Graves started their own business Snow Hill Lumber and Truss Company and worked hard at this venture. Merrell was a lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church and volunteered his time at Asbury Bible Camp. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Silex, Eastern Star and Scottish Rite. Merrell also was a volunteer firefighter, worked at Lincoln County Fair frying fish, Moscow Mills Lions Club, Old Threshers in Elsberry and many other commmunity events.
Merrell is survived by his loving family; his devoted wife and caregiver Dean, three daughters: Karen and husband Jim Taylor of Mexico, Terry Graves, of Winfield and Patty and husband Robert Durfee of Vinton, VA; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday March 26, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. and a Masonic Service was held at 7 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center-Troy
Funeral was held on Wednesday March 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church-Foley. Rev. Karla Cunningham officiated. Interment was in the Asbury Cemetery.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday March 27, 2013, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating. Burial was in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Millwood. Visitation was held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 pm at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.
Mary was born on Nov. 27, 1921, in St. Louis the daughter of Nick and Mary (Seredji) Meleganics. She grew up in the St. Louis area moved to Silex when she met the love her life Joseph Benton Wommack Jr. who she married on Jan. 25, 1947 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
He preceded her in death in 1959. To this union three children were born; Robert Patrick Wommack and wife, Cindy, of St. Peters, Joseph Michael Wommack and wife, Kim, of Troy and Kathryn Lynn Blumhorst and husband, Tom of Marshall. Also surviving are six grandchildren Julie (Rich) Reyna, Trish (Bryan) Whaley, Jeremy (Jodi) Blumhorst, Wil Blumhorst, Jill (Kurt) Kinion, Jay Wommack; twelve great grandchildren Chloe, Noah, Owen and Ethan Blumhorst, Chloee, Kelan, Claire and Claudia Kinion, Kayla, Jonathan, and Christian Reyna, and Cameron Whaley; one sister Helen (Gene) Dwyer of Troy.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, bingo, fishing and life in general.
