Weather permitting, Tuesday night, September 3 at midnight, MoDOT will close MO 79 to traffic between Louisiana and Clarksville to replace the bridge at Little Calumet Creek located approximately 3 miles north of Clarksville. The bridge replacement should take approximately 45 working days, reopening to traffic by mid to late October.
Alternate routes of travel will be available over Routes D, N and 79. The entrance to the Calumet Creek Access will be closed during construction, boaters and anglers can access the Mississippi River at either Silo Park, located about 1 mile south of the bridge or at the Louisiana Riverfront.
The 78-year-old bridge will be replaced with a new 32 feet wide concrete girder bridge with shoulders to accommodate bicyclists. R. V. Wagner, Inc. of St. Louis, MO was the successful bidder at a cost of $849,040.78.
