Visitation will be held at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. and an hour before the funeral at the church.

Mrs. Baber, age 91, formerly of Elsberry,  entered eternal rest on Dec. 13, 2013, at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Facility, Rochester, Minn..

Iva Nadine Finley was born Jan. 9, 1922, on the family farm, Lincoln County, to Frank and Mamie (Tucker) Finley. She was part of a close loving family, the second of six girls. She graduated from Troy High School in 1940. Many years after her children were grown, she pursued a long-time dream and graduated in 1980 with a BSN degree from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kan.

In 1940, Nadine married Thomas Richard Baber. They were married for 66 years until Richard’s death in 2007. They spent their lives in ministry, pastoring churches in Missouri, Kansas and California. They planted a number of churches in Grenada W.I. in a span of over 21 years. They had a radio ministry that continued in their retirement with the desire to spread the gospel around the world. Mrs. Baber spent a great deal of her time sending Bibles, Christian literature and writing letters to listeners of the radio ministry. Mrs. Baber left this life, but the legacy of her devotion to God and her ministry to others will live on. She quietly made a lifelong habit of being a student of the Bible. She was still teaching Sunday School at age 90. Her passion was that others would be comforted, inspired and led to a better understanding of God’s love as a result of her life.

Mrs. Baber is survived by two children, Esther (Wilbur) Zirk, Kasson, Minn. and James (Kenna), Rochester, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Diane Baber, Elsberry; two sisters, Anna Godden, Bellingham, Wash. and Frances (Charles) Pinkston, Versailles, KY.; nine grandchildren, Valerie (Bill) Filsinger, Arthur (Jessica) Baber, Nathan Zirk, Aaron (Rachel Newhouse) Zirk, Angela Zirk, Andrew Zirk, Anthony Baber, Emily Baber and Julia Baber, as well as 4 great-grandsons, Lance, Danny, Emerson and Jace and numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

She asked her family to request memorials to God’s work in lieu of flowers. Presently a chapel is being built at the St. John’s Christian Secondary School in Grenada W.I.. To assist until it’s completion, memorials can be addressed to The Bible Holiness Church, Foreign Missions. In addition she would be pleased to know in her death memorials would be given to your padio Pastor.
