Lincoln County residents who’ve always wanted to own a home are invited to attend one of two classes sponsored by the not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC).
The free classes are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, and Thursday, Jan. 24, at the NECAC Lincoln County Service Center, 11 Woodcrest Drive off of Highway 47 at the west edge of Troy.
Participants will learn about housing opportunities and financing, obstacles to home-ownership, saving for a down payment, record-keeping, understanding credit, cash flow, meeting with financial institutions, getting a loan, taxes and other topics.
Each year, the NECAC Home-Ownership Program puts 45 to 70 families on the road to a home purchase. The agency works in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Federal Home Loan Bank, NeighborWorks America, the St. Louis HOME Consortium and other agencies to provide home-ownership opportunities.
