Nell Albrecht

Nell L. Albrecht, 94, of Troy, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at The Arbors in Troy.

She was born on July 22, 1918, in Chesterfield to William and Edith (Perkins) Fletcher. Nell was the baby of the family and had three older siblings: William, Jarvis and Betty. Nell married Ray C. Albrecht on Oct. 27, 1940. They lovingly raised their two sons, David and James.

She was an excellent homemaker and took great care of her husband and sons. Nell was a wonderful helpmate to her husband on their produce farm in Gumbo.  In 1972 when the new Highway 61 went through Gumbo, they moved to Troy. Nell and Ray joined Zion United Church of Christ in Troy where they made many new friends. She would help with many church projects. She was very creative and liked to do china painting. Nell had been a charter member of the “Rainbow Splashers”.

Surviving are her loving sons: David and wife, Faye Albrecht, of Troy, James and wife Marianne Albrecht, of Columbia; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held this Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, Troy location. Officiating: Rev. Laura Mignerone. Interment to follow in the Troy City Cemetery, Troy.

Gail Lucille Gilchrist, 78, Foley, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012.

Per Gail’s wishes, there will be no services.

Betty Grabenhorst

Visitation for Betty Ann Grabenhorst, 54, will be held 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.

Ms. Grabenhorst passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at her home near Foley.

Born Nov. 1, 1958, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Robert and Ruby Louise Martin Monks.

She is survived by her children:  Paula Taylor of Foley, MO; Pamela Grabenhorst, and her companion James Dains, Sr.of Foley, MO; Joseph Grabenhorst of Foley, MO and Ashley Grabenhorst, of Foley, MO.; three grandchildren; and her brother Robert Bass, of Foley, MO; other relatives and friends.  She also leaves her companion, Ron Goad, Sr.

Inurnment will be scheduled at a later date.

Linda L. Keys, 71, of O’Fallon, passed away Nov. 11, 2012, at University Hospital in Columbia. A memorial service will be held  at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16 at the Chapel of the Lake at Lake Saint Louis.

Keys was born Sept. 3, 1941 in St. Louis, the daughter of Wallace and Katherine Watson.

She worked in an administrative position with Steak and Shake.

Survivors include two sons,  Bill (Amber) Keys, of St. Peters and Steve (Jamie Speaks) Keys, of Moscow Mills; one daughter, Kathy (Vernon Born) Keys, of Arnold; one sister, Mary Jane Majchrzak, of Sunset Hills; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.

Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville handled the arrangements.


Wilber Leedom 89, of Escalon, Calif., formerly of Silex, passed away on Nov. 9, 2012.

Born near Stahl, Mo. on Dec. 19, 1922.

He is survived by his wife Neva Leedom of 67 years, four children; Harry (Diana) Leedom, Larry (Vivian) Leedom, Garry Leedom and Jane (Robert) Mericle; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.

Wilber was a WWII Navy Veteran who served 6 years.

Services will be November 20, 2012 at  LDS Church, Oakdale, Calif., burial at San Joaquin National Cemetery, Gustine, Calif.

Edward O’Donnell, 83, Warrenton, passed away Sept. 3, 2012, St. Joseph Hospital West at Lake Saint Louis. Funeral service was held at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Jonesburg.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

O’Donnell was born April 16, 1929, in St. Louis, the son of Thomas and Verble O’Donnell. They, along with two brothers, Timothy and Thomas O’Donnell, preceded him in death.

He worked as a brewer, retiring from Anheuser Busch. He was a former president of Local 6 Brewers and Malsters. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jonesburg.

Survivors include his wife, Alice May O’Donnell, of Warrenton; sons Thomas (Marla) O’Donnell, of Arbela, David (Cindy) O’Donnell, of St. Charles, Billyo (Peggy) O’Donnell,  of Byrnes Mills, Patrick (Jane) O’Donnell, of Truxton, Robert (Tracy) O’Donnell, of Foristell; daughters Genevieve (Jim) Coleman, of Louisiana, Mo., Kathleen O’Donnell, of Warrenton, Veronica (Gary) Lucy, of O’Fallon, Francine (Keith) Klimas, of St. Charles; brother, John (Shirley) O’Donnell, of Imperial; sister Vicki Furrer, of St. Louis County; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
