The new South Lincoln Drive Interchange will open Saturday, September 7 between 10 a.m. and 12 noon, exactly one year after the community broke ground for the project. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m. to signify the importance of the project to transportation in the region.
With an average of more than 32,000 cars a day in this area along U.S. 61, the interchange will replace the median crossover at South Lincoln Drive. The new interchange is uniquely designed, featuring three roundabouts. A video on roundabouts has been posted online athttp://on.mo.gov/13eRQpZ.
The contractor for the project is Iron Mountain, LLC, and while there will still be some cleanup work to perform, the interchange will be fully functional by Saturday afternoon. The entire cost of the interchange was around ten million dollars, and it is the last Amendment 3 funded project in MoDOT’s Northeast District.
