Two local servicemen recently were re-united during a leave where they visited family and friends in the Troy area.


Sgt. Jason Calloway, stationed in Fort Stewart, GA, has served both in the U.S. Marine Corps and now the U.S. Army He entered the Army in 2006 and underwent transitional training in New Mexico. In January 2007, he began a 15-month deployment to Iraq. While in Iraq, he was a radio operator and later was a truck driver. He was stationed near Ramadi in the Al Anbar Province.


"I believe we are doing a great job over there," he said. He and his wife, Monica, have one son, Jason Allan Calloway Jr. who is 8 months old.

He is a graduate of Troy Buchanan High School.


Staff Sgt Keith Jenkins entered the Army in 1999 after graduation from Troy Buchanan High School. He trained at both Fort Knox, KY and Fort Eustis in Virginia. He is trained in electronics and arms systems working on the Apache Long Bow AH64D. He has also been stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and Savannah, Ga. In 2001, his unit was assigned to Kuwait in Desert Storm. He is a veteran of Iraqi Freedom serving in Baghdad in 2003. He later spent time in Germany and in Afghanistan during 205-2006. After additional training in Fort Campbell, KY, Jenkins was selected to participate  in a special NATO mission  in Northern Africa for 45 days. He was one of only 10 out of 300 candidates selected for this mission.
Calloway is the son of Stanley and Linda Calloway, of Rolla. Jenkins is the son of Debbie Jenkins, of Kirkwood and Danny Jenkins, of Princeton, KY. They are the sons-in-law of Curt and Kim Opsahl, of Moscow Mills.
Jenkins and his wife, Melissa, have one son, Trenton, age 2.

"We are so very proud of these fine young men and we prayed for the safe return," said Kim. "We hope everyone continues to pray for the brave men and women who continue to serve in the world so we can enjoy our freedoms."
