Open House Monday to discuss transportation needs in area

Posted on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 2:13 pm

After years of work by local planning agencies and transportation partners, Missourians are now asked to weigh in on a list of transportation projects and improvements that could improve safety, create jobs, and boost Missouri’s economy.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has coordinated an open house meeting Monday, June 23 from 3  until 6 p.m. at Boonslick Regional Planning Commission, 111 Steinhagen in Warrenton to ask residents to take a look at the local priorities and share their thoughts and insights.

The Lincoln County projects listed for Lincoln County in the Northeast District include primarily resurfacing projects. The proposals include:

• Rt. 47 from west of Troy to east of Troy;

• Rt. U from Rt. 47 to Rt. J south of Troy;

• Rt. B from Rt. 61  to Rt. 79 at Elsberry;

• Rt. C from Moscow Mills to Old Monroe;

• Rt. MM from Rt. C to end of road;

• Resurface and add shoulders on Rt. 47 from Rt. H and J. to Rts. A and D.

Other projects listed include replace and repair Rt. H bridge over Cuivre River; replace/repair the Rt. 79 bridge over McLean’s Branch; improve the interchange of Rt. 47/61 in Troy and improve the Rt. 47/A/D intersection in Hawk Point.

On August 5, Missouri voters will decide on Constitutional Amendment 7, a ballot measure to temporarily raise Missouri’s sales tax by ¾ of a cent. All proceeds from the tax would go toward needed transportation improvements across the state. The amendment’s provisions include the creation of a project list prior to the election so Missourians can see what their tax dollars would fund.

The public is invited to attend the meeting to speak to regional planning partners and MoDOT representatives. No formal presentations will be made.

There are multiple open house meetings scheduled in each region of the state. The entire public meeting schedule, the draft transportation improvement list, and an online comment form are available at
