Kaylee Padkins, a student at the University of Missouri, is participating in MFA Incorporated’s Ag Experience Program as a seed intern.
The Ag Experience is a partnership between educational institutions and MFA Incorporated, a regional farm supply and marketing cooperative serving 45,000 active farmers and ranchers in Missouri and adjacent states. Students are hired by MFA into a professional or technical position that correlates with their area of study.
During the internship, students receive the kind of hands-on experience that prepares them for the workforce.
The MFA Ag Experience provides students with a chance to learn about agriculture as professional employees. MFA customizes each internship, catering as much as possible to a student’s interest.
During the program, students participate in a comprehensive orientation and are assigned to an MFA work location for 12 weeks.
To be eligible for this program, students must be enrolled in an agriculture-related course of study, be a full-time student in good standing with a grade point average above 2.75 and have completed their sophomore year of college.
At the conclusion of the program, students give a presentation of what they learned throughout the summer to senior-level managers. Students who perform well during the program may receive an offer to return to MFA the following summer or work part-time throughout the school year.
