PALS Pet of the Week

Posted on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 9:01 am

This past record cold winter, Oakley was alone, abandoned some time ago, he was so cold – he didn’t even care about eating. Oakley has had a long road to recovery, but finally this day has come! He is a beautiful Golden Retriever, born about 2/20/08, and current weight is 55 lbs. Upon arrival, he was heartworm positive, paw pads frozen, ear infection, underweight, dehydrated & injured left eye. He is now heartworm free, paw pads back to normal, ear infection fixed, & his left eye is sightless but pain free (he navigates just fine), he has gained weight & he thirsts no more! Oakley is so personable – he loves people (of course, kids too), walks perfectly on a leash and is crate trained. Always happy to see you & learning how to play again!! Oakley’s $150 adoption fee includes a comprehensive veterinary care package, and lots of love from our volunteers. You can view Oakley and all our pets online at We have a large assortment of wonderful dogs and cats from which to choose. Please stop by the shelter and give a great companion a loving home. We are currently partnering with the Strut Your Mutt event held on September 27 at Tilles Park. Please join our team or donate to help homeless animals by visiting We are a non-profit, no-kill shelter so your support is greatly needed and appreciated so that we may continue to help the animals.
