PALS Pet of the Week

Posted on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 8:44 am

Teddy was spotted by a motorist on a busy country road – there he was, clearly lost. No collar/tags/microchip. Teddy arrived toPet-TEDDY our shelter with so many ticks, we lost count. He had been shaved down by someone at some point, was missing his left eye, and was – shall we say – portly. We have searched and searched for a guardian, but his life seems to be a mystery. Teddy is a fawn/white Pekingese. Our veterinarian believes he was born about 5/31/06. He has weighed in at 25.6 lbs.! He really will need a steady, slow weight loss – no table scraps. Teddy is missing his left eye, so since he is operating with one eye, he sometimes bumps into things that are on his left side. His new guardians should be prepared to never let him roam unattended – we are lucky as it is, that he wasn’t hit by a car. Pekingese are intolerant of hot weather – so please, if you are looking for a dog to live outside, he is a wrong choice. Pekingese do require visits to a groomer, to keep their coat in shape, and keep a check on their hairy feet! Teddy is very, very friendly, very sweet, very adorable – he loves everyone! He is quiet, will light up the room with his presence, and has low exercise needs (he will need short walks and less food to lose those pounds!) He is crate trained. Teddy had an umbilical hernia that we had repaired when we had him neutered. He is healthy, precious, and would love to be your companion. Our $150 adoption fee includes a comprehensive veterinary care package, and lots of love from our volunteers. You can view Teddy and all our pets online at . We have a large assortment of wonderful dogs and cats from which to choose. Please stop by the shelter and give a great companion a loving home. Check out our website for upcoming fundraisers and adoption events. We are a non-profit, no-kill shelter so your support is greatly needed and appreciated so that we may continue to help the animals.
