Dr. Jerry Raines will become the next principal at Troy Buchanan High School beginning July 1, 2013. Raines has spent 22 years in education and has been with the Lincoln County R-III School District for 20 years. He began his teaching career in Paris, Missouri before coming to the R-III District to stay.
Raines began his R-III career as a teacher at the middle school and the high school before entering into administration as an assistant principal at Troy Middle School, Troy Buchanan High School and the Ninth Grade Center. In July 2010, Raines accepted his first lead principal job with the district at Troy Middle School, which is now the largest middle school in the State of Missouri.
At the root of Raines’ success, may be his ‘words to live by.’ In his office, he has two quotes framed to serve as a constant reminder; “Lead with vision” and “Work hard. Make no excuses. Finish the task at hand.”
Raines received his Bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in Mathematics and Secondary Education and his Masters, Specialist and Doctorate from Lindenwood University. Raines is filling a vacancy of Dr. Stephen Hunter who has accepted the position of Superintendent in the VanFar School District.
