First Baptist Christian Academy opened her doors in the fall of 2001 with the first class of Kindergarteners. Each year, another grade was added until FBCA achieved her goal in 2009 of becoming a K thru 8th grade educational program. The mission of FBCA is to emphasize a Christ-centered philosophy of excellence in providing students a quality academic and spiritual education, empowering them to impact the world for the glory of God.
FBCA averages about 125 students each year. She is a member of the Association of Christian Schools, and each year students take the Stanford 10 Achievement Test in order for parents and teachers to get an overview of student progress and subject level proficiency. Grade level classrooms are taught by trained professionals, and class sizes are small. Average class size is fourteen students, and twenty students is a maximum class size.
Karen Ryan has served as School Administrator for FBCA since 2004. “I have watched FBCA grow from 33 students in 2004 to 126 students in 2013. FBCA’s faculty and staff are among the finest. They are dedicated to their Christian faith, to academic excellence, and to the students and families of FBCA. In addition, I work with some of the best families who are supportive and encouraging to the goals of FBCA. Recently, we conducted a satisfaction survey where parents ranked FBCA in a number of descriptors on a scale of 1-5 (with 5 being extremely satisfied). The average rating was greater than 4.5. FBCA remains committed to continual improvement as she works towards formal accreditation with ACSI. I am privileged to lead FBCA, and I believe FBCA is an excellent, Christian environment for students. I encourage families in Lincoln County to consider FBCA for their child’s educational and spiritual development.”
