Posted on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 8:26 am

Starting this month, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office begins hosting monthly D.A.R.E. Dances at the fairgrounds. The cost is still nominal to get in and offer concessions for attendees. Dances begin at 7 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. Please do not drop off your child before 6:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to chaperone during the dance.

The dates of the D.A.R.E. dances are as follows:

8/30 – 7th and 8th grade

9/13 – 5th and 6th grade

9/20 – 5th and 6th grade

10/4 – 5th and 6th grade

10/11 – 7th and 8th grade

11/1 – 5th and 6th grade

11/8 – 5th and 6th grade

12/13 – 5th and 6th grade

12/20 – 7th and 8th grade

1/10 – 5th and 6th grade

1/17 – 5th and 6th grade

2/7 – 5th and 6th grade

2/21 – 7th and 8th grade

3/21 – 5th and 6th grade

3/28 – 5th and 6th grade

4/4 – 5th and 6th grade

4/11 – 7th and 8th grade

5/2 – 5th and 6th grade

5/9 – 5th and 6th grade

The sheriff’s office uses the admission fee to pay for their annual Fifth Grade youth camp, which has been free for campers over the past 12 years. Because of the expanding population of the county and the growing number of fifth graders, this year the sheriff’s office is planning two camps to accommodate as many campers as possible.

The sheriff’s office would like to remind dancers this is a safe environment and do not tolerate fighting or criminal activity. Those found in violation will be dealt with through the juvenile justice system.
