“Different year, same problems.”
This is what Silex Head Basketball Coach Ken Jett had to say about the Owls 59-21 loss to Louisiana during the Clopton Tournament on Jan. 2.
From the outset, the Bulldogs were in the lead, holding an 11-4 lead at the first quarter and 23-16 at the half. Silex tried to rally in the second quarter, scoring 12 total points. However, it was the third quarter where Louisiana surged ahead, scoring 19 points. The Bull-dogs soon wrapped up the game after scoring nine points to Silex’s six points.
Charles Turbyeville and Nathan Kientzy were Silex’s only scorers during the game. Turbyeville scored 15 of Silex’s points while Kientzy scored six.
“Not a well-played game, another poor shooting night for us,” said Jett. “We just have to keep practicing hard and work things out.”
As of Journal press time, the Owls were scheduled to play the Clopton Hawks on Jan. 4 at 7 p.m.
