A 22-point streak made by Montgomery County in the fourth quarter led to the Silex Owls boys basketball team’s loss in the first round of the Montgomery tournament.
Silex lost to Montgomery 70-38 on Nov. 28. The game started out in Wildcat’s favor, holding a 14-point lead over Silex in the half. Despite scoring 15 points in the third quarter, the Owls could not get ahead of Montogomery, only scoring four points in the fourth quarter.
Nathan Kientzy was the lead scorer for Silex with 16 points scored. Jake Adams and Brian Henke were second, scoring six points each.
As of the Journal’s press time, Silex was scheduled to play New Haven on Nov. 30. See more coverage in next week’s paper.
