Two members from the Silex FFA Chapter attended the sixth annual HYMAX Academy at Camp Rising Sun in June. The institute provided leadership and advocacy training for the top 100 incoming sophomores in FFA chapters across Missouri. The students were selected out of many applicants to attend. The students that attended HYMAX this year were Makayla Schneider and Lexi Plackemeier.
Students learned how to overcome obstacles in their Supervised Agricultural Experience programs and developed their communication and agricultural advocacy skills.
“The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.” Nationally, there are nearly 650,000 FFA members fulfilling this mission. Missouri ranks sixth in the nation with over 25,000 FFA members.
