Twenty-four Silex High School students attended the Area 7 Future Business Leaders of America competition Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Hannibal-LaGrange University.
Several teams and individuals earned medals for their performances on objective tests, role-plays, and presentations.
Individual winners at DLC included: Joe Martin (fifth place, economics), Colton Riley (first place, introduction to business procedures), Tommy Grote (fifth place, financial math), Nick Kientzy (second place, sales presentation), and Claire Lavy (fourth place, public speaking II). Team winners were: Tessa Gruenloh, Nick Kientzy, and Sydney Kreuger (second place, marketing), Olivia Boenker, Sarah Hudson, and McIntyre Wilmes (first place, hospitality management), Rianna Rice, Katie Millwood, A-Jay Best, and Riley Sullivan (second place, parliamentary procedure), and Joe Martin, Brian Henke, and Jake Hinkebein (second place, sports and entertainment management).
Eight Silex students now qualify to compete in Springfield at State Leadership Conference on April 2-4. Those FBLA members are: Tommy Grote, Colton Riley, Joe Martin, Jake Hinkebein (agribusiness), Kozlin Sanders (securities and investments), Olivia Boenker, Sarah Hudson, and McIntyre Wilmes.
