teams as both advanced with impressive wins. On Monday, the top-seeded Lady Owls blew past Van-Far 85-16 with Natalie Fleming scoring 25 points, seven steals and six assists to lead the way. Lindsey Barnhart followed with 17 points and Aly Miller scored 11 points.

Silex moved out into a 33-4 lead in the first period and led 53-8 at the half enroute to the win.

“It was a great first round game for us to get the post season started,” said Coach Robert James. “We shot the ball very well from beyond the arc, making 12 of 26 attempts. “We had eight different girls hit at least one three-point field goal. It was probably the best all around game for us on the season with the bench being able to play at a high level as well.”

In their last regular season game, Fleming and Leah Miller scored 19 points each, leading Silex to a 60-28 win at Montgomery R-II. Fleming had 20 rebounds, seven steals and five assists. Like in their district game, they got off to a quick start, leading 18-9 in the first period and 38-21 at the half. With the win, they finished with a 24-1 regular season record including a 9-0 mark in the East Missouri Conference to win it outright.

“We didn’t have our best shooting night but hit the glass really well with a season high of 56 rebounds,” said Coach James. “Leah (Miller) shot the ball well from the outside connecting on three of four shots from behind the arc. As a team, we did a great job of sharing the ball against their zone defense which led to some good looks.”

Back in the district, the Owls, fifth-seeded in the tournament, renewed its rivalry with the fourth-seeded Clopton Hawks. In a truly exciting game, the Owls rallied for a 59-57 win in overtime to advance to the semi-finals. Austin Fleming led with 22 points followed by James Lasater (13 pts.) and Levi Miller (12 pts.). Devin Linton led Clopton with 13 points followed by Rheed Leake (12 pts.).

Silex trailed 9-2 after the first period and 20-9 at the half. After some half-time adjustments, the Owls turned the game around in the third period as they held a 21-12 edge in scoring.
