The Troy Buchanan Trojans have improved their record to 9-1 in softball, maintaining their six-game winning streak.
On Aug. 29, the team posted a 5-1 win over Fort Zumwalt West. Kiersten Nixon was the winning pitcher. She allowed four hits and struck out five. Troy had eight hits as a team with Natalie Sullivan and Ashten Traynor leading with two hits apiece.
Sullivan had two RBIs with Haleigh Hunt, Jacey Meyer, and Nixon driving in one each. Troy led 2-1 going into the seventh inning when they tacked on three more runs.
On Aug. 31, they shutout Francis Howell Central. The score was 7-0. Nixon gave up two hits and struck out 12 in the win. Offensively, Troy had 15 hits led by Sullivan with four hits including two doubles. Sullivan and Bella Wilson drove in two runs each.
On Sept. 5, they again had a 15-hit attack enroute to a 12-0 win over St. Dominic. Ali Cook threw four innings, allowed one hit and struck out 11 batters. Nixon pitched three innings and struck out eight batters. Haleigh Hunt drove in three runs on two doubles. Kelsey Sachs had a triple. Kenadie Suddarth and and Sullivan had two RBIs each.
