The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department announced Wednesday an arrest of a felon on a weapons violation.
On Tuesday (July 1), the Lincoln County Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) responded to the 100 block of Valley Drive, in Foley, for an arrest attempt on Joshua Spangler. Through community narcotic tips, investigators received information Spangler was residing in a shed along Valley Drive.
Investigators were able to make contact with Spangler. During their conversation, detectives observed a box of shotgun shells sitting on a table. Spangler was arrested for outstanding warrants and brought to the sheriff’s office where he was read his Miranda rights. Spangler admitted to detectives of purchasing and selling a shotgun a week ago.
Spangler has prior felony convictions and subsequently charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, which is a Class C felony. Drug paraphernalia was also recovered off of Spangler.
As of July 2, Spangler was being held at the Lincoln County Jail subject to a $10,000 cash or 10 percent surety bond. Other conditions of bond may apply.
The Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) is currently composed of detectives from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Troy Police Department. NET is also supported by all other law enforcement entities in Lincoln County.
Those charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
