Troy Buchanan Lady Trojan track squad athletes have been competing in recent meets, coming home with impressive finishes.
They competed in the Pow Wow meet at Wentzville Holt. Girls placing fourth place and higher included:
Leah Colbert, second in both the discus (116-5) and shot put (37-2); Rachel Sullivan, second in the 400 meter dash (1.01.12) and Brea Livingston, fourth in the shot put (32- 2 ½). As a team, they placed sixth.
They then competed at a meet held April 2 at Fort Zumwalt West. Athletes placing fourth or higher included: Rachel Sullivan, first in the 400 meter dash (61.4), second in the 200 meter (26.54) and third in the high jump (4-8); Leah Colbert, second in the discus (112-3) and second in the shot put (38-4); Riley Fader, second in the 1600 meter run (5:41) and fourth in the 3200 meter run (112:37.20). The 4×800 meter relay team of Nikki Haney, Rebecca Ashburn, Riley Fader and Morgan Hartwig placed first. Their time was 10.23.8. As a team, Troy placed third.
They then competed in the Wolfpack Invitational at Wentzville Timberland where they placed fifth as a team. Individually, top performances included: Leah Colbert, first in the discus (133-2) and third in the shot put (35-7); Riley Fader, third in the 1600 meter (5.49.25) and third in the 3200 meter (12.43.4); Rachel Sullivan, second in the 400 meter (1.03.07), third in the 200 meter dash (26.78). The 4×800 meter relay team placed third (10.31.33).
The boys team competed in the Wolfpack Invitational as well. Medalists included LeSean Regans, (1st, long jump 20-11.5); Dalton Gilbert (2nd, discus 149-3); Cody Miller (3rd, discus 139-9) and Ben Krause (3rd 100m, 11.25 and 3rd 200m 22.78).
In baseball, the Trojans are seeking the keys to turn around their season. They lost 9-8 to Fort Zumwalt West on April 9. In their previous game, they dropped a 9-4 game to Duchesne. Josh Lucas had an RBI with Devon Fuller and Nick Tubbessing hitting a triple and double respectively for the Trojans. Duchesne scored three runs in the third and six in the fourth enroute to the win. Zack Weston took the loss for the Trojans.
Earlier they dropped a doubleheader to Parkway North by scores of 12-2 and 6-2. Collin Barton and Jake Crader drove in runs in the first game. North’s big inning came in the sixth when they scored seven runs. In the 6-2 loss, Crader and Alex Tiefenthaler had RBIs.
They also lost 4-1 to Quincy, Ill. With Josh Lucas driving in Troy’s only run.
In soccer, Troy lost a close 2-1 decision to Francis Howell. The goal was scored by Jamie Gilley, assisted by Allie Heinz. Tori Ditter had seven saves in goal.
On April 8, the girls defeated Pacific 10-0 in the first game of the Community State Bank Soccer Invitational held at Troy Buchanan. Jamie Gilley had four goals and five assists. Lexy Roberts added two goals and Kylie Thwing, Bailey Wood, Katie White, and Mariah Vollmer each had one apiece. Assists came from Stephanie Adelmann, Olivia Lang, Katie White, and Abby Wortmann.
Lexy Roberts scored the only goal as Troy defeated Wentzville Holt 1-0 in the semifinals. Jamie Gilley had the assists and Tiffany Hazelwonder earned the shutout in goal.
