Lincoln County deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Robin Wood Lane, in Winfield (Lincoln County), for a past domestic violence incident, according to information released by Lincoln County Sheriff John Cottle. Upon arrival, the reporting party did not answer his door; however, deputies could hear someone speaking loudly a few houses down and investigated.
Deputies made contact with the victim who stated Travis Stevens, age 30, arrived at his home during the morning hours acting “weird” and would not leave. When the victim opened the front door to let Stevens out, he pulled a fixed bladed knife and attempted to thrust it into the victim’s body. The victim was able to create distance but Stevens followed. Fearing for his life, the victim grabbed a wooden table leg and struck Stevens in the head.
Stevens eventually left the residence and as he walked away he threw large landscaping rock at the victim which shattered his storm door. Deputies were able to recover a fixed bladed knife at the scene and took Stevens into custody a short time later at his residence.
Stevens appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and struggled to stay awake during questioning.
Stevens is currently housed at the Lincoln County Jail and is charged with Second Degree Assault. His bond is set at $25,000.00 cash only.
Those accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
