If you have ever been interested in trapping, you are invited to the Missouri Trappers Association (MTA) Fall Rendezvous at the Montgomery City Fairgrounds on Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21. This event is an annual gathering of trappers where there will be demonstrations of trapping techniques and fur handling methods, as well as numerous vendors selling supplies. With fur prices rising, both retired and beginning trappers are again interested in catching furbearers this season. With some of the best trappers in Missouri attending, it is a great opportunity to talk with experienced trappers and get some tips on successful and ethical ways to trap. In recent years, there have been advances in trap designs with the new dog proof traps. Even if you just need one trap to catch raccoons in your sweet corn or want to learn to catch hundreds of furbearers, this is the opportunity to get supplies and talk to the experts.
Food will be available during the event, including a Friday evening fish fry, and a live auction Saturday evening. For information call Robbie Page at 660-888-2369 or Bob Scarlet at 573-564-2079.
