Trojan golfers begin play

The following is a summary of the opening season matches for the Troy Buchanan High Trojans in golf this spring.
On March 22 in a conference dual with Timberland, the varsity Lost (183-160). The low four scores for the Trojans were Griffin St. Pierre 44; Dylan Kappen, 46; Chase Colbert, 46, and Brendan Deters, 47.
Troy’s junior varsity lost 219-200. Trojan Adam Sachs was the medalist of the match with a 46.
On March 23 in the JV tournament held at the Falls, Troy won the tournament with a team score of 368. Scores for the Trojans Adam Sachs, 88 – third place; Brendan Deters, 93, eighth place; Michael Lucero, 93; Luke Weisner, 94; James Justus, 98.
On March 28, Troy competed in a dual match with Howell Central Varsity wins 171- 204. The low four scores for the Trojans were by Chase Colbert, 40; Griffin St. Pierre, 41; Dylan Kappen, 43, and Adam Sachs, 47.
Troy;s junior varsity won with a 203-205. The low four scores for the Trojans turned in by Avry Cummings, 47; Nicko Toedebusch, 51; Luke Weisner,52 and Drew Deters, 53.
The Troy Buchanan Varsity Trojans defeated Francis Howell 192-197 at Whitmoor Country Club.
“The conditions were horrible,” said Coach Myron Daw. “The 30 mph wind gusts had to put the wind chill into the 30s. And this was after a hard rain that made this already difficult course very wet.”
The scores for the Trojans were Chase Colbert, 47; Griffin St. Pierre, 48; Dylan Kappen, 47; Adam Sachs, 50; and Brendan Deters, 50.
Kappen is a senior. The other four varsity starters are freshmen.
The JV Trojans lost 189-207. Nicko Toedebusch had the low round for the Trojans with a 47.

Troy junior varsity teams winning the tournament including, in no order, Adam Sachs, Brendan Deters, Michero Lucero, Luke Weisner and James Justus.
