With limited resources available for rural school districts, many student FFA chapters suffer from insufficient funding. This October, Monsanto held its fifth annual U.S. Row Crops Trivia Night and Silent Auction, to benefit Greater St. Louis area FFA chapters. Local FFA chapters were asked to participate in the event by contributing a gift basket to be auctioned off. Proceeds from the auction were split among all participating FFA chapters.
“The U.S. Row Crops Trivia Night and Silent Auction helps raise money to increase opportunities for local FFA chapters,” said Dave Mercer, business process analyst.
The auction raised $21,048 for the 14 participating FFA chapters in Missouri and Illinois, nearly $3,500 more than last year. This allowed each chapter to receive approximately $1,503. The six Missouri FFA chapters that received funds included: Elsberry FFA and Troy FFA.
“Monsanto is excited to partner with the National FFA Foundation to help build generations of leaders who understand agriculture in the communities where they live,” said Mercer.
