On September 11, more than 450 members from nineteen schools in the Area V FFA Association showed up in their blue corduroy FFA jackets for the Area V Leadership Conference. Ninety-eight of those 450 FFA members were from the Troy FFA Chapter.
The conference was hosted by the Area V FFA Officer Team at Bowling Green High School and the theme was “Ignite – Leadership, Growth, Success and Service.” Members had the opportunity to participate in leadership workshops hosted by the Area V FFA Officers and the National FFA President, Clay Sapp.
These workshops promoted leadership as well as successful teamwork. While these leadership sessions were fun and enjoyable, they all had a bigger meaning behind them. One station used a tennis ball to reference that people are too focused on what they are doing to notice everything else going on around them. The rest of the conference consisted of the message depicted in the FFA Creed, “I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others.” The Area V Leadership Conference taught exactly that, being a leader yourself and to respect others in your community, school district and FFA Chapter.
When asked about the event Bailey Arras said, “I think everyone that attended the conference learned a lot and had a great experience. We were able to have fun while learning about ourselves and the FFA. The Area V Officers did an excellent job planning and executing the conference.” The Troy FFA members look forward to using their new-found leadership skills to impact their community and FFA chapter.
