Julia Chesser, Morgan Hartwig, Jessica Hoelting and Karissa Skibinski, members of the Troy FFA Chapter from Troy, swept top honors Oct. 29 at the 2013 National FFA Knowledge Invitational Contest held in Louisville, Ky. The contest was held in conjunction with National FFA Convention and Expo and coordinated by Dr. David Frazier of Texas.
The FFA Knowledge Invitational contest is designed to test members’ knowledge of the history, tradition, operation and policies of the national FFA organization. By virtue of being Missouri FFA’s state winner, Chesser, Hartwig, Hoelting and Skibinski were invited to compete against teams from across the United States.
Final results revealed a three-way tie for the high individual, an honor shared by Hartwig, Hoelting and Skibinski. Chesser was the contest’s fourth high individual and the team finished first. This win marks the 12th national championship in Troy FFA’s history.
The event, sponsored by River Star Farms Fundraising of Mission, Texas, is one of many educational activities associated with the National FFA Convention and Expo in which students practice the lessons learned in agricultural education classes.
