On Feb. 27, officers with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division, National Insurance Crime Bureau, Department of Revenue and St. Louis Auto Theft Task Force executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of Ridge Road near Troy. During the search, a confirmed stolen Mercedes Benz out of St. Louis and a confirmed stolen 1998 Chevrolet 3500 out of St. Louis with a manipulated VIN, returning to Timothy Howe were located and seized from the property. A loaded .40 caliber handgun and a trailer that had an altered VIN number returned to Howe were also located inside the property and seized.
On Feb. 28, the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant on the primary residence of Howe on Hickory Drive in Troy. Numerous open vehicle titles, removed VIN plates and a recovered a tool box valued at $9,000 were seized from the residence. During this search, Howe was located and arrested. During a interview with investigators, Howe advised he bought the 1998 Chevy 3500 from a guy off Craig’s list, and stated he acquired the Mercedes-Benz in a three-way trade with a guy from St. Charles. He said he allowed a subject to store the trailer. The handgun, he said, was owned by his brother. Howe said it was kept there because he is there by himself a lot at night and was needed for protection. It should be noted, the probable cause statement sais that Howe is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess a handgun in Missouri.
Howe is facing two counts of stealing.
