In a trial which spanned two days, a Troy man was found guilty on several charges including involuntary manslaughter of a nine-year-old boy in a traffic accident.
Randolph James, 33, was also convicted of three counts of second-degree assault and four misdemeanors. The Honorable Judge Jim Beck presided over the trial.
The accident occurred on Thanksgiving Eve in November 2012 when James was westbound on Highway 47 near Lindsey Road when his Ford Ranger crossed the centerline. His vehicle hit a vehicle occupied by Winfield family head-on. One of the passengers, David W. Simpson, age 9, died later that night after being transferred to Cardinal Glennon. The other family members suffered moderate injuries.
