After months of hard work 19 Technology Student Association (TSA) students from Troy Middle School finally got their chance to show their skills against students from across the state of Missouri at the TSA state competition. The largest group of students to ever compete from TMS headed to the campus of the University of Missouri S&T from March 30 to April first bringing home with them seven first place finishes, four second place finishes and sweeping the Structural Model contest.
The seventh and eighth grade students spent all winter researching, studying and building their projects and the hard work paid off. Troy Middle School TSA got first place in the following categories: Dragster Design, Technology Bowl Written, Technology Bowl Oral, Flight, Structural Model, Website Design, and Electrical Applications. On top of taking first in the previous categories they were also able to take home second place finishes in the following categories: VEX Robotics, Technology Bowl Oral, Structural Model, and Video Game Design. Cementing their dominance in the Structural Model category TMS TSA students made it a complete sweep by bringing home third place as well.
Troy Middle School TSA teacher Brandon Franck said he was proud of his students and their accomplishments as they represented the largest middle school in the state of Missouri. Franck also said he is very excited about trying to put together a group to attend the National TSA Contest in Washington D.C. over the summer. However, funding is tight so the group is now looking for ways to raise funds in order to secure a chance to compete against some of the best and brightest technology students in the country.
