Although podcasts are wildly popular with over 500 million downloads on iTunes, Josh and Rhiannon Lawson often encounter people who don’t quite understand what they do on the internet. The Lawsons run a weekly podcast, or internet radio show as Josh explains, out of their Winfield home. With a special studio set up in their spare room, the couple enjoys spending an hour together each week recording their podcast called “The Curious Commitment.”
“I’ve been listening to podcasts for about five years,” commented Josh. “I was always interested in starting one, and with my degree in audio engineering, I figured that I would be able to do it at home. We decided to actually do a podcast together late last year, and we let our first episode go live in January. We’ve loved being able to take time out of our normal lives to talk about what we are passionate about.”
The couple primarily documents their health and fitness journey on the broadcast and have collectively lost more than 50 pounds. They don’t want to limit their podcast to simply health, however. In the hour-long show, Rhiannon and Josh discuss topics such as tattoos, dog training, dedication, success, and any other subject that strikes their fancy. In addition, they each bring an article that they’ve found interesting to discuss each week.
“We really started this podcast to hold ourselves accountable to our goals and hopefully inspire others,” remarked Rhiannon. “It’s a great hobby for us right now, and we hope to continue to grow our listener base and stay motivated in our own goals.”
