Wilbert “Bill” Weible

Wilbert “Bill” J. Weible, Jr., 94, of Troy, passed away Nov. 18, 2024 in Wentzville. Bill was born Aug. 13, 1930, in St. Louis, to Wilbert J. Weible, Sr. and Jennie F. (Perkins) Weible. Raised in the Pine Lawn neighborhood of St. Louis with family & numerous neighborhood friends, he also loved visiting his grandparents & cousins on the family farm in Wappapello during the summer. Bill attended Normandy schools until 1947 when he enlisted in the service.
Bill was a decorated wartime veteran in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1951 earning numerous service awards including a Purple Heart. After returning from the service in 1951, his attention was captured by the younger sister of those childhood friends from Pine Lawn, Dolly V. McCann. Bill & Dolly eventually married Feb. 28, 1953 and remained together for the rest of their lives.
He owned and operated a filling station on Union Blvd. in St. Louis in the 1950s. Bill and Dolly moved to Troy, in 1970 where Bill worked as a service technician in Wentzville & eventually purchased the Sears Catalog Store in Warrenton, which he operated until retiring in the early 1980s. In retirement, Bill & Dolly spent a great deal of time with their favorite hobby, trail-riding on their horses with family and friends in Cuivre River State Park and all over southern Missouri in the Ozark Mountains. Bill and Dolly enjoyed extensive travel, going to Australia many times to visit good friend Wal Pisciotta, European river cruises, winters in Texas and traveling in their RV all over North America. Bill and Dolly loved occasional family weekends to Lake Wappapello. His travels took him to all 50 states and six continents.
Despite seeing the world with Dolly, Bill’s greatest joy by far was his family. His early retirement allowed him to dedicate his time to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending countless days with them around the family pool & never missing one of their ball games. Bill will always be remembered by his friends and family for his constant jokes, endless inquiries into his grandchildren’s love lives & willingness to help any of them at any time.
His dear family includes his loving wife Dolly of 71 years; two children, Robert Weible (Betty) of Troy and Julie Brown (Tony) of Wentzville; one brother, Tim Weible (Karla) of Millstadt, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jeremy Brown (Jennifer), Justin Brown (Stephanie), Michael Weible (1985-2018), Jennie Johnley (Kenny) and John Weible (1990– 2002); nine great-grandchildren, Lyla Brown, Jacob Brown, Iris Brown, Harper Brown, Julia Brown, Bree Johnley (2015-2019), Olivia Johnley, Jessie Johnley and Allie Johnley; sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents & two brothers, Larry Weible and Dale Weible.
Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024 from 1-3 p.m., at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone Street, Troy. A memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Jeremy Brown will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bree’s Gift (breesgift.com) which is a registered 501c (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to support families pursuing domestic or international adoption. The organization provides financial assistance tailored to each family’s unique needs, helping them complete their adoption.
A legacy filled moment, as Bree’s Gift was founded to honor the memory of Bill’s cherished great-granddaughter, Bree Isabel Johnley. In Nov. 2021, Bill experienced the profound joy of adoption firsthand when his youngest granddaughter, Allie, was adopted and welcomed home.
