Debra (Debbie) Jean Sommer, 69, passed away, Saturday Nov. 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Debbie was born Oct. 5, 1955, to James and Jewel (Ovean) Laswell. Debbie was a lifelong Missourian and graduated from Francis Howell High School in 1973. She was a compassionate caregiver, working with the elderly at Winfield Residential Care and cared for many people over the years. She had many hobbies and enjoyed camping and trout fishing. She loved to swim and was a regular at the YMCA pool. Debbie loved to make special treats and many will remember her special Christmas chocolate covered cherries. Debbie’s true passion was her family and loved nothing more than family gatherings and time spent with her grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her father, James E. Laswell, mother, Jewel Ovean Laswell, father-in-law, Art Sommer, mother-in-law, Louise Sommer, and daughter, Robyn Haase.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Phillip Sommer; sons, Jacob Sommer (Christine); Adam Sommer; grandchildren, Mark Sommer, Luke Sommer, John Sommer, Doug Haase and Sam Haase; siblings, Barbara Jones (Jim), Susan Spurgin (Bob), Karen Wellman (Alan) and many loving nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
