Owen “Butch” Atwood

Funeral services for Owen M. “Butch” Atwood of Winfield, will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Jim Chapman will officiate.

Butch, 68, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 25, 2024 at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy. Born Oct. 29, 1956 in Danville, Ill., he was the son of Owen M. and Mildred Bednar Atwood. Butch married Debra Sue Edwards June 17, 1978 in Danville. He worked as a Millwright for General Motors in Wentzville. Butch enjoyed cooking, sports of all kinds (but especially golf) and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Mildred Atwood; his half-brother, Michael Lucas; his half-sister, Christi Seldomridge; his sister-in-law, Patty Atwood; and his beloved dog, Ginger.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years, Debra Atwood, of Winfield; and his beloved dog, Max. Butch also leaves three brothers: Terry Atwood of Westville, Ill., John Atwood and his wife, Teri, of Danville, and William “Rocky” Atwood and his wife, Joyce, of Fairmount, Ill.; his brother-in-law, Bill Seldomridge, of Fla.; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of the service at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2024 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
