Silex Boys Restarting With New Faces in 2024

After graduating 80 percent of their starting lineup, including a 1,000 point scorer, the Silex Owls are going to hit the restart button in 2024.
Entering his fourth season at the helm, Head Coach Ethan Evans said he expects this team to build upon the periodic success shown during a 7-18 season in 2023-24.
“We struggled early on last year,” Evans recalled. “But we really found our rhythm late and when we did, we played well. We are looking to build on that momentum this year and maybe surprise some teams.”
While 1,000-point scorer Tyler Twellman, Cole Fessler, Jake Henry and Hunter Hubbard are gone, senior guard Ryder Hopkins is back after scoring 5 points and recording 1.2 steals per game as a junior. Hopkins will be bringing the ball up court most of the time, and will be joined in the back court by returning letterwinner Chase Mullen who scored 3 points and added 1.3 steals per game as a sophomore.
And while it may not be Tyler, two other Twellmans, Easton a 6’4 senior and Lincoln, a sophomore, will be manning the forward positions.
Lincoln Twellman won’t be the only underclassman though playing significant minutes as Sophomore Guard Chase Vehige and Freshman Forward Kayden Kuntz are expected to receive considerable playing time.
With that many new faces and inexperience on the court, Evans said building confidence will be important.
“They just need to trust their ability and put themselves in a position to win,” Evans said.
