Zenk Transferred to Vandalia Prison

VANDALIA – Inmate Number 1396874, also known as Hailey Grace Zenk, spent her first night in prison last week, 72 hours after being sentenced to seven years for killing three teenagers in a drunk driving accident.

St. Charles deputies transferred Zenk Thursday to the Women’s Eastern Correctional Center in Vandalia, about 50 miles northwest of Troy.

St. Charles County Circuit Judge Michael Fagras sentenced Zenk Feb. 10 to seven years after revoking her probation for tampering with an alcohol monitoring device.

In June 2024, Fagras sentenced Zenk to seven years for three counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of DWI – serious physical injury. He suspended all but 120 days of the sentences, which were to run concurrently.

Fagras placed Zenk on five years probation, which included her wearing the monitoring device for six months.

One month after installation, the device reported a tampering incident, indicating it detected alcohol as well.

Zenk previously entered an Alford Plea to the charges in which the accused doesn’t admit fault but concedes prosecution has enough evidence to obtain a conviction.

That plea also included a fifth charge, DWI – death of two or more. At the probation hearing, Fagras suspended the 10-year sentence associated with that charge. However, once Zenk is released from prison, Fagras ruled she will serve an additional 10 years of probation or that sentence would be imposed.
