TBHS Rides 4-Game Win Streak into Districts
TROY – Riding a four-game win streak to close out the regular season, the Troy-Buchanan girls’ basketball will start their quest for a fourth consecutive district championship next week.
Seeded second, the Trojans play Liberty (Wentzville ) March 6 at 7 p.m. in the first round of the district tournament in O’Fallon.
Winner of that game plays in the semifinals Saturday March 8 at 3 p.m. against the winner of No. 3 seed Fort Zumwalt West and No. 6 Timberland. Troy beat Fort Zumwalt West last year in the district championship.
This year’s district title game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 at 6 p.m.
Francis Howell received the number one seed in the district tournament. They split a pair of games against Troy this season, with the home team winning each game.
Troy won its 20th game of the season Friday, Feb. 21 in decisive fashion, beating Liberty 72-23.
Playing in front of the home crowd, Mya Robinson led the Trojans with 19 points and three steals in the win. Ava Meyers contributed with 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. Alyssa Schulte also scored in double figures with 12 and four assists, while Ellie Moore added eight points, 10 boards, five assists and five steals.
