JOHN LUCKETT

John Thomas Luckett, 92, of Troy, Missouri, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy, Missouri. He was born on June 25, 1932, in Olney, Missouri and was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Alma Bell (Mitchell) Luckett. JT married the love of his life, Marilyn Tomik on July 5, 1958 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawk Point, Missouri and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
JT served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 until he was honorably discharged in 1979. JT and Marilyn owned and operated the Troy Family Restaurant for almost 20 years. He enjoyed riding horses, and he owned horses from the time he spent in the Navy until 2023. JT enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a proud member of the Troy VFW Post 8828. JT was an outdoor enthusiast; he liked walking and watching the deer and rabbits. He could tell some of the best Navy stories. JT was loved by everyone and his gentle presence will be missed.
JT is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marilyn Luckett of Troy, MO; one son and one daughter: Monica Shurtleff of Wentzville, MO and Steven Luckett (Aaron) of Swansea, IL; one sister and one brother: Bonnie Starkey of Troy, MO and Mitch Luckett of Brinnon, WA; one granddaughter, Caroline Luckett; two great-grandchildren: Solomon and Anthena; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Thomas Jefferson and Alma Luckett; one son, John Tomik “Tommy” Luckett; one son-in-law, Don Shurtleff and sisters: Mildred Darline Leek, Sherry Ireland and Amelia Becker.
Family and friends will be received from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Kemper-Keim Family Funeral Chapel in Troy, MO. Interment with full military honors will be held at the St. Marys Cemetery.
