WILMA VERNON

Funeral Services for Wilma Fay Vernon of Winfield, Missouri were at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Larry Gallaher, pastor of Asbury Chapel near Foley, Missouri, officiated with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Blackwell, Landon Blackwell, Alex Carnahan, Liam Carnahan, Cameron Sprague and TJ Butler.
Wilma, 83, passed away Monday evening, August 4, 2025 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Born September 23, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of Elmer and Rella (Talley) Smith. Wilma was united in marriage on May 27, 1960 in St. Louis to Ronald Edgar Vernon. This union was blessed with two daughters: Christine and Jennifer. Wilma was retired and had spent the majority of her career in various Administrative and Retail roles. She enjoyed antiquing, spending time in nature, growing flowers and watching birds. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Rella Smith; her brothers: Bill Smith, LeRoy Smith and Carl Smith; and her beloved husband of 64 years, Ron Vernon.
Survivors include their daughters: Christine Vernon of Clarksville, Missouri and Jennifer Blackwell and her husband, Christopher, of Eolia, Missouri; and eight grandchildren. Wilma also leaves behind one sister, Wanda Patterson and her husband, Cary, of Arizona; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
