Tuesday morning accident claims 10th life in 2025

Two-car accident occurred on Highway W, northeast of Troy

LINCOLN COUNTY – A two-car accident in rural Lincoln County claimed the life of a Troy woman Tuesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 41-year-old Troy woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Highway W, just south of Moody Lane, about 10 miles northeast of Troy.

The patrol reports the woman drove a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt off the north side of Highway W, overcorrected and returned to the road. The vehicle then began to skid, entered the northbound lane and ran off the south side of the highway.

The front of the Cobalt then struck the passenger side of a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 65-year-old Louisiana woman. Both vehicles came to rest off the south side of the road.

According to the patrol, the driver of the Cobalt wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and she was transferred from the scene to the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home.

The driver of the Silverado was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

The fatality marks the 10th of 2025 in Lincoln County and the first since July 16. Fatality totals on Lincoln County highways have varied significantly recently, with only six recorded in 2024 following a record 19 in 2023.
