ELSBERRY – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department arrested an Elsberry woman Wednesday who admitted she hit a man with her car who she claims previously brandished a knife.
Deputies arrested Randi Norton, 33, on two felony charges, domestic assault in the first degree and armed criminal action. She is currently in custody in the Lincoln County jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond.
Deputies responded to the Elsberry residence on a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon their arrival, they found an injured male lying on the garage floor.
He told deputies Norton became angry at him for breaking a syringe she was using and that she had left to go get “more drugs.”
According to court records, the victim told deputies when he tried to stop her, she “she bumped into him with the vehicle …and then she accelerated striking his shins, causing him to go over the hood striking his face on the windshield,” before driving away.
When contacted by deputies, according to court records, Norton admitted to hitting the victim with her car when he wouldn’t let her leave, while also claiming earlier while they were arguing, he produced a knife.
After arresting Norton, deputies recovered a knife and a handgun at the residence, along with the broken syringe.
The victim was transported to St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis for injuries sustained to his legs, face and head.
Norton was scheduled to appear in court in St. Genevieve county Tuesday on felony charges of two counts of possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and possession of drug paraphernalia after an arrest Dec. 28, 2024.
