Arthur Schaper

Arthur R. Schaper, age 85, of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away peacefully Nov. 10, 2024. He was born in Warrenton, Oct. 30, 1939, to the late Arthur K. and Mildred C. (Mische) Schaper. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Arthur leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and a deep love for his family.

Arthur is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Carrol Schaper; son, Michael Schaper (Leigh Anne); daughter, Deborah Piel (David); four grandchildren (Amanda, Courtney, Zachary, Emily); great-grandchild (Ella) and nieces and nephews.

Before retirement, Arthur worked for 37 years with Peoples Bank & Trust in Hawk Point. Throughout his life, Arthur found joy in the simple pleasures. He had a lifelong love for fishing, hunting, woodworking and car restoration— hobbies he pursued with great passion and skill. In his later years, Arthur embraced the warm weather of Fort Myers, where he enjoyed golfing and the serenity of the outdoors. His sense of humor, easygoing nature and willingness to lend a helping hand will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Arthur’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends and his legacy of love and joy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A private service will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
