Whitbey convicted of sodomy

TROY – A Middle Brook man was found guilty of 14 counts of statutory sodomy last week in a case involving a minor under the age of 14.
Christopher Whitbey, 49, faces life in prison after the three-day jury trial last week in Lincoln County.
He will be sentenced by the presiding judge, David Ash, Jan. 25, 2025, facing up to life in prison.
According to a probable cause statement leading to the felony charges, the victim’s mother first reported to the sheriff’s department in 2019 that her former boyfriend, who had been living with her, had sexually assaulted her son.
When interviewed, the victim confirmed the assaults had taken place in several locations in Troy, including in an automobile parked in a field near Cuivre Park Elementary and at Whitbey’s place of employment.
Whitbey would be arrested May 7, 2021. After the conviction, he remains in custody in the Lincoln County jail, awaiting sentencing.
